As India’s appetite for emerging international destinations continues to grow, Azerbaijan is strengthening its visibility among the country’s travel trade through a series of focused industry engagements.
OA Globe DMC recently hosted exclusive networking events in Ahmedabad and Mumbai, bringing together leading travel agents, tour operators, MICE planners, wedding specialists and hospitality partners to further position Azerbaijan as a versatile destination for Indian travellers. The roadshow began with the OA Globe DMC Networking Night in Ahmedabad on July 2, followed by an exclusive dinner networking event in Mumbai on July 7.
Joining OA Globe DMC were some of Azerbaijan’s leading luxury hospitality brands, including The Ritz-Carlton Baku, JW Marriott Absheron Baku and AHG Hotels & Resorts. The events provided Indian travel professionals with first-hand insights into the destination’s expanding hospitality landscape and opportunities across leisure, luxury, destination weddings, corporate travel, incentives and MICE.
While Baku remains the country’s primary gateway for Indian visitors, participating hotel partners highlighted experiences beyond the capital, showcasing luxury accommodation and curated experiences in destinations such as Shahdag and Sheki. The emphasis reflected Azerbaijan’s growing efforts to encourage longer stays by promoting its mountain resorts, cultural heritage, nature-based experiences and premium hospitality offerings.
Over the past few years, OA Globe DMC has steadily expanded its destination development initiatives in India through trade roadshows, destination presentations and familiarisation (FAM) trips, allowing Indian travel advisors to experience Azerbaijan firsthand and build greater confidence in selling the destination.
Speaking during the events, Rahim Aslam, Founder & Director of OA Globe DMC, said the company’s strategy goes beyond destination promotion and focuses on building long-term partnerships with the travel trade. He said, “The participation of The Ritz-Carlton Baku, JW Marriott Absheron Baku and AHG Hotels & Resorts reflects Azerbaijan’s growing commitment to the Indian market. Together, we are showcasing experiences across Baku, Shahdag and Sheki while creating stronger opportunities for leisure, luxury, weddings and MICE travel. Through our on-ground presence and continued investment in trade engagement and FAM programmes, we remain committed to helping our partners confidently promote Azerbaijan to Indian travellers.”
With Indian outbound travel increasingly shifting towards experience-led holidays, destinations that combine luxury, accessibility and diverse experiences are attracting greater interest. Through continued collaboration with hospitality partners and sustained engagement with the travel trade, OA Globe DMC is positioning Azerbaijan to capture a larger share of this growing market.
