VietJet Australia flight

Vietjet to launch Ho Chi Minh City–Western Sydney flights from January 2027

August 11, 2026 | Press Release

Vietnamese carrier Vietjet is set to expand its Australia network with a new nonstop service between Ho Chi Minh City and Western Sydney International Airport (WSI), beginning January 9, 2027.

The twice-weekly service will make Vietjet one of the first airlines to offer international connectivity to Australia’s newest international aviation gateway, while opening another route option for Indian travellers heading to Australia via Vietnam.

Indian travellers will be able to connect to the new service from Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Bengaluru, all of which have direct Vietjet flights to Ho Chi Minh City.

The new route will link Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam’s major commercial centre, with Western Sydney, one of Australia’s fastest-growing regions. The service is also expected to strengthen travel, tourism and business links between Vietnam and Australia.

To mark the announcement, Vietjet is offering a 20% discount on base fares in Deluxe, SkyBoss and Business classes across its direct Vietnam–Australia services. The promotion is valid until 9:30pm IST on August 16, 2026, using the code VJAUS20, for travel between September 7, 2026 and March 31, 2027. Peak periods, public holidays and blackout dates are excluded.

The announcement coincided with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Vietjet and Western Sydney International Airport at the Vietnam-Australia Tech Connect Forum in Sydney.

Vietjet CEO Nguyen Thanh Son said the airline’s entry into WSI would support stronger tourism, trade and investment ties between Vietnam and Australia.

Western Sydney International Airport CEO Simon Hickey said the new service would also serve the region’s large Vietnamese community, noting that more than 70,000 people of Vietnamese heritage live across Greater Sydney.

Australia is already a key international market for Vietjet. The airline currently operates services connecting Vietnam with Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, with Western Sydney becoming its latest Australian destination.

For Indian travellers, the new service adds another Australia gateway to the growing network of connections available through Vietnam.
