StarDream Cruises introduces Bhajan Jamming at Sea

Bhajan Jamming Sets Sail: StarDream Cruises Introduces First-Ever Devotional Experience at Sea

March 18, 2026 | Press Release

StarDream Cruises is bringing a distinctly Indian, community-led musical format to international waters with the introduction of Bhajan Jamming sessions onboard Genting Dream, marking what it describes as a first-of-its-kind experience at sea.

The cruise line will roll out this concept on select sailings under its Dream Cruises portfolio, with departures scheduled on 26 May and 9 June 2026. These three-night itineraries will sail roundtrip from Singapore to Phuket, integrating the devotional format into the broader cruise experience.

Bhajan Jamming, which has been gaining popularity across India, moves away from traditional stage-led performances to a more participatory and immersive format. Typically held in informal, community settings, the concept encourages attendees to sing, clap, and co-create the musical experience. By taking this format onboard, the cruise line is positioning it as both a cultural and experiential offering for Indian and global guests.

On the Genting Dream sailings, the sessions will retain their spontaneous and inclusive nature. Rather than a curated performance, the onboard experience will invite guests to actively participate, creating a shared devotional atmosphere in a non-traditional setting—midway through a cruise journey.

Commenting on the concept, Naresh Rawal, Senior Vice President – Sales & Marketing, said:
“What makes Bhajan Jamming special is that it’s participatory and collective. It is not about watching a performance, it is about being part of the music. Bringing that same format to sea creates quite a different setting for it. When travelers step away from their everyday routines, moments like these naturally allow them to slow down, reconnect, and share the experience together.”

From a product development perspective, the introduction of Bhajan Jamming reflects a broader trend of cruise lines curating niche, culturally resonant experiences to attract specific source markets. For the Indian outbound segment in particular, this format blends spirituality, social interaction, and entertainment—elements that are increasingly influencing travel decisions.

Set against the backdrop of the open sea, the experience also aligns with the growing demand for slow, meaningful travel moments. By integrating a familiar cultural practice into an international cruise itinerary, StarDream Cruises is effectively recontextualising devotional music as part of a lifestyle-led holiday experience.

For travel designers and cruise sellers, these themed departures present an opportunity to package cruises beyond conventional entertainment, tapping into experiential and interest-based travel segments—particularly for repeat cruisers and culturally inclined travellers seeking differentiated onboard programming.
